The Old Filling Station opened on April 1, 2001, yes, April Fool's Day. The restaurant started in an actual Filling Station hence the name. The restaurant was a thriving start up business but we literally out grew the space. The Old Filling Station found This Old House at 140 Main Street in Benton, PA in March of 2002 and we had our grand opening in March of 2003. The Old Filling Station has been successful ever since. We began our services with American cuisine and started the first Thai menu in Benton in May of 2004. We now have a full American and Thai menu for people of all tastes. The success of our business and our food is that it is made fresh to order, no processed food and no MSGs.
The Old Filling Station has a variety of dishes from appetizers, sandwiches, steak and seafood to our Thai menu of authentic soups or rice and noodle dishes of Northern Thailand. The Old Filling Station has an original feature menu each evening that consists of home-made one of kind soups, always experimenting and creating new dishes. The features and special menu each night always has something new that you don't see on our regular menu. The Old Filling Station prides itself on being innovative and creative with its dishes and enjoys having customers taste test the latest dish. You never know when Chris will appear from the kitchen with something new having customers test it for themselves.
Christine and Dennis Dawson started the business together after years of working for other people. Christine was always cooking for others in the work place, for friends, parties, anything. Dennis was always doing some type of carpentry work, building decks, fixing things and more. Together they decided that they could build a restaurant business. Dennis maintains the building and does all the handy work and Christine creates the menus and the foods they decide to serve.
